Different conversion tracking tools will have different attribution rules, which can make it challenging to explain discrepancies. Common reasons for discrepancies include:
- A difference in where the conversion tracking code is placed. The tool may not be counting the exact same conversion event.
- A difference in what counts as an attributed conversion. For example, a 30-day vs. a last-click attribution rule.
- A difference in attribution windows. Quora's default window is 28 days for clickthrough conversions, and 1 day for viewthrough conversions. These can be customized using the instructions in Can I change the clickthrough or viewthrough conversion windows?
