When you start uploading your file for a List Match Audience, we hash it locally on your computer before it gets transmitted to Quora's servers. This is done in order to protect your customer data. Hashing turns the data in your customer file into a set of random characters that can't be reversed back to the original data.
The full process is as follows:
- We hash the data people using Quora have provided to us using a method known as SHA256.
- When you begin uploading your customer data file, we hash it locally on your computer using the same SHA256 method. Once it is completely hashed, it is then uploaded to Quora.
- After your hashed data is uploaded to Quora, we match it against our hashed data and the matches are added to your List Match Audience.
- Your hashed data is then deleted.
