The default metrics available in the Ads Manger will be available for Promoted Answers. This includes:
- Impressions: This measures how often the unexpanded preview of the Promoted Answer is viewed. It is the same as when an ad records an impression after someone views it.
- Clicks: This measures how often someone clicks on the preview of the Promoted Answer in order to read it in full. It does not include clicks on any links within the answer.
- CTR, CPC, Spend: All these metrics derive from your Promoted Answer's delivery in conjunction with the impressions and click metrics reported.
Event tracking and metrics are also available for Promoted Answers. Attribution works as follows:
- Clickthrough conversion attribution: If a user clicks on your Promoted Answer and performs a conversion event within 28 days, we will attribute a clickthrough conversion to that Promoted Answer as long as no other ad was clicked in that same time period. If you changed your conversion windows, these windows take precedent over our default clickthrough window of 28 days.
- Viewthrough conversion attribution: If a user views your Promoted Answer and performs a conversion event in the last 1 day, we will attribute a viewthrough conversion to that Promoted Answer. This is under the conditions that the user did not click on one of your other ads in the last 28 days, and did not view one of your other ads more recently than viewing the Promoted Answer. If you changed your conversion windows, these windows take precedent over our default viewthrough window of 1 day.
To register a clickthrough conversion for a Promoted Answer, a user does not need to click on a link that takes them to your site. The user just needs to click on the preview of the Promoted Answer in order to read the answer in full.
Additionally, you can also see engagement metrics associated with Promoted Answers. These include:
- Upvotes: The number of upvotes your Promoted Answer received from logged in users. These are users who clicked and viewed your Promoted Answer. This metric does not include upvotes from users who read your answer organically. Users who are not logged into Quora can still see your Promoted Answer, but they cannot upvote it.
- Comments: The number of comments your Promoted Answer received from logged in users. These are users who clicked and viewed your Promoted Answer. This metric does not include comments from users who read your answer organically. Users who are not logged into Quora can still see your Promoted Answer, but they cannot comment on it.
To view these metrics in your Ads Manager, please follow the instructions in Customizing your Reporting View. Engagement metrics will be under the "Post Engagement" section.
At this time, the Ads Manager does not offer tracking and metrics for clicks that occur within your Promoted Answer. For example, a user clicking a link in your answer that directs them off Quora.
